Stanley Young and his eight kids have been living in a hotel because a fire destroyed their home. Young is currently unemployed, and his wife died about a year ago, making him the sole provider and caregiver for the children. Young tearfully told news reporters about his struggles, and Nas was so moved that he decided to get up and do something about it.
The singer created a fundraising campaign, which has surpassed its target of $50,000 and raised more than $60,000! You can still donate, and the more money the Young family gets, the more it will help them get back on their feet. Nas has also put down thousands of dollars himself. "I believe and hope that we should all, as a community, come together to help our fellow American men and women when they need us in desperate situations like this," he said.
The singer continued, "I know this is just one family out of millions, and we aren't solving a global problem. But I believe that a happy ending to a story like this can be the beginning of something bigger for our communities." The Young family has been through a lot, and now Nas and thousands of contributors are showing that when we come together for an important cause like this, Life Is Good.
