It can wait: that's the message of acclaimed director Werner Herzog's emotional documentary about texting while driving. The 35-minute film, titled From One Second to the Next, profiles four families whose lives have been changed by accidents caused by texting while driving.

Eight-year-old Xavier was wrenched from his sister's hands and paralyzed from the diaphragm down. Soon-to-be father Chandler was texting when he struck a buggy and killed the three children of an Amish couple. Former world traveler Debbie is disabled to the point of not being able to leave her yard, and Reggie is still traumatized seven years after causing the deaths of two engineers.

Several celebrities have put their weight behind the documentary and the important message it delivers. Once a Mean Girl, actress Lacey Chabert couldn't be more supportive in real life and tweeted a link to the film. Pretty Little Liars and Final Destination 3 actor Ryan Merriman wants to make sure we all reach our destinations safely, and tweeted to tell us #itcanwait. The stories captured the attention of seasoned actors, as well. Kirstie Alley took the pledge, and tweeted to urge fans to do the same. Actress and activist Mia Farrow tweeted a link to the "harrowing" documentary, and Lisa Rinna also took to twitter to make her pledge.

The documentary is part of AT&T's "It Can Wait" campaign, which tells people to put the cell phone down when the seatbelt goes on. The film was distributed to more than 40,000 high schools and hundreds of safety + government organizations, and it has been viewed over 1.5 million times on YouTube in one week. Renowned German filmmaker Herzog commented, "In one second, entire lives are either wiped out or changed forever. That kind of emotional resonance is something that I knew I could cover."
