Jordin Sparks has a successful career from her music and acting (not to mention her clothing line and fragrance!), and she wants to make sure other women have successful careers, too.
That's why she's involved with Dress for Success, which helps disadvantaged women get hired and excel in their careers. And when her mother recently got honored by the org, Jordin thought she deserved some serenading.
Last Thursday Dress for Success had their Something to Share Gala, and part of it entailed honoring moms of successful careerwomen. This included Jodi Sparks, mom of the "American Idol" sixth season winner. It was Jordin's job to introduce her mom on-stage, but it was Jordin's sweetness (and talented vocals) that got her to burst into song -- and MTV Act's got the first look at video of Jordin's daughter-to-mother song!
Can you say, "Awww"? And it's not even Mother's Day!
Dress for Success has been around since 1997 and helps about 65,000 women each year. The first step to getting hired is a good job interview, and because you need to look professional, the org will supply appropriate clothing to women who wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise. Once a woman is hired, Dress for Success will continue to help her on her career path with things like their employment retention programs.
