Demi Lovato had today set to help Free the Children and their We Are Silent campaign, but what started out as a time to help has also become a time of sadness. There has been a blast at a fertilizer plant in her home state of Texas, and it's still unclear how many were killed or wounded.
The Texan at heart Tweeted:
Seeing the news about Waco, TX makes me so sad :( praying for my fellow Texans ❤

The explosion actually happened in West, Texas, which is about 18 miles from Waco. But people from Waco are involved in helping, and Sgt. William Patrick Swanton of Waco Police said, "Nothing at this point indicates we have had criminal activity, but we are not ruling that out."
The Waco Tribune-Herald has posted a page of helpful links and numbers. People who are safe and well after the explosion can add their name on this section of the Red Cross website, and friends and family can also search names there. If you would like to sign yourself up to offer aid, go here. Some people have been made homeless by the explosion, so if you are living in the area, you can offer shelter to those who need it.
At the moment the list mainly consists of ways to help if you're in Texas, but as time goes on there will be more opportunities to give aid. Right now you might be able to donate blood, or you could follow Demi's lead by sharing your love on Twitter. Whether it's in person or from a distance, you can bring compassion and help to Texas.
