Alicia Keys is a "Girl on Fire" and she's also all about Girl Power in general. Right now she's empowering women through their lives and health by teaming up with Greater Than AIDS to launch the EMPOWERED campaign.

While HIV and AIDS affect every group and every country, this particular campaign is aimed towards women. There are currently more than one million people in the United States who have HIV, and a little over one fourth of them are women and girls.

Alicia's link includes a video (also featured below) where she talks openly and honestly with women who have been diagnosed with HIV. Instead of turning HIV into a scary and stigma-laced thing, these women talk about the importance of using protection, getting tested and getting treated. They also talk about how the negative associations that surround HIV/AIDS have gotta go. The clip is only about five minutes long, but it still has many moving moments and really humanizes the HIV/AIDS experience.

Alicia's EMPOWERED campaign is going to work with a community grants program (administered by AIDS United, with help from Kaiser Family Foundation), media messages and community outreach.
