April is National Alcohol Awareness Month, but we'll leave the serious lectures to yo' mama! While T.V. and the tabloids make it seem like Hollywood is one big frat party (with WAY more expensive punch), many celebs opt to take it easy on Friday nights.
From Taylor Swift to Bradley Cooper, these are our fave A-listers who will probably never become AA-listers, or are on the good road to recovery.
+ Taylor Swift
While you'll never catch Taylor stumbling out of a club, the 23-year-old songstress does enjoy an occasional drink. "I don't drink much alcohol. If it doesn't taste like candy or sparkles, I usually don't drink it," she says. Sparkles? That's so Goldschlager Taylor.
+ Justin Bieber
The cat's out of the bag. Justin Bieber drinks beer. "I mean, I've had a beer, like, before," Justin once told GQ magazine. "But I never get out of control." True that. No one wants to wake up to a million embarrassing Instagram pics...or even worse -- a total stranger! If you're of legal drinking age, know your alcohol limits, and check out MTV's Half Of Us to learn about just how much is too much.
+ Blake Lively
Unlike her "Gossip Girl" alter ego Serena, Blake Lively doesn't drink and has never tried drugs! "I grew up with the mindset that after work you go to dinner and watch a movie. I don't want to go to a club and not wear panties," she recently told Allure magazine. Parties can be a blast, but like Blake, let's not forget that drinking isn't necessary for good time!
+ Jennifer Lopez
All this time, I've wondered what J.Lo drinks to stay looking so young. Water? Coconut milk? Unicorn tears?! It turns out it's all about what the 43-year-old beauty doesn't drink! "I think that ruins your skin," she told In Style. "Of course, during celebratory toasts, everybody's like, 'You can't toast with water!' So I'll toast with alcohol and just take a sip." Talk about self control! I'll toast (my afternoon tea) to that.
+ Chrissy Teigen
Supermodel and John Legend's boo Chrissy Teigen, is known for her hilarious drunk Tweets, but recently Tweeted to a very different tone. "I feel like if I say this publicly, the chances of me succeeding will rise. I, am going sober. First for a month, then taking it from there," she told her followers. "Alcohol just not as fun and relaxing as it used to be. Want to feel really truly good again!" Talk about using social media for good.
+ Christina Ricci
Christina Ricci has been there, done that, but beer pong just doesn't do it for her anymore. "You know, I went through a normal kind of late teens, early 20s drinking phase, but [quitting] was a choice I made, because I didn't think it was very good for my life," she told Blackbook mag. Whether it's for a night or for a lifetime, deciding not to drink doesn't mean you can't have fun. "I drink Diet Coke and dance," said Christina. What's your non-alcoholic bevvy of choice?
+ Bradley Cooper
In spite of his wild role in "The Hangover," Bradley Cooper has been sober for eight years. Like many of us mistakenly do, Bradley used to drink to fit in. "I was so concerned what you thought of me, how I was coming across, how I would survive the day. I always felt like an outsider," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "[Then] I realized I wasn't going to live up to my potential, and that scared the hell out of me. I thought, 'Wow, I'm actually gonna ruin my life; I'm really gonna ruin it.'"
Did you know that up to 40% of all hospital beds in the United States (except for those being used by maternity and intensive care patients) are being used to treat health conditions that are related to alcohol consumption?
