Happy #EarthDay! I'm seeing a lot of headbands and heart shaped sunglasses out there, so I know y'all can talk the hippie talk...but can you walk the hippie walk? Every year, more than 1 billion people take part in Earth Day activities. Here's how you can too:
+ You Can Really Conserve Water

Justin Timberlake's new album is freaking amazing, but you don't have to listen to the entire thing during your morning shower. Don't you know that too many eargasms can kill ya?! Okay, fine. I made that up. But seeing as more than 36 states may face water shortages this year, and almost 800 million people in the world live without clean drinking water. Try to conserve H2O by limiting your showers to one, maybe two, songs every morning. And please: none of JT's songs that are longer than 5 minutes!
+ Ride A Bike. Duh.

According to the Center for Disease Control, if 20% of students living within 2 miles of school were to bike or walk rather than driving, it would prevent 356,000 tons of carbon dioxide from being emitted annually. Although I have the scars to prove that it is possible to forget how to ride a bike (...on St. Patrick's Day), don't let yours get all rusty in the backyard. Or do, 'cause then it'll look all vintage and stuff, and totally attract the attention of your cute hipster neighbor.
+ Recycle Like A Boss

Do you know that recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to listen to one full album on your iPod? (Which still doesn't mean you should listen to it in the shower. I saw your eyes light up for a second there!) Recycling isn't just a fictional concept on "Portlandia." Reduce some of the 1.5 tons of waste the average person generates every year by recycling whenever you can.
+ Saving Energy Is Sexy

While most of my friends spent the weekend overly captivated by laser shows at Coachella, 1.5 billion people in the world live without electricity. Save power (and money!), by keeping lights and appliances off when you're not home. And when you are turning it on, be like Ian Somerhalder and use these nifty energy-saving light bulbs.
+ Werk It For Climate Change
Katniss' love for Peeta may not have been real (OR IS IT?!), but climate change totally is! The United States is home to only about 5% of world's population, but responsible for almost 19% of the world's carbon emissions. Submit a photo of yourself reducing your carbon footprint, and upload it to the Face of Climate Change wall to become part of a giant, global, Earth Day collage.
