Either we just slipped into a wormhole, taking us back to 1998 or Harry Knowles over at Ain't It Cool News just published a "Star Wars"-related rumor.
According to the blogger, Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm are assembling their slate of upcoming movies set in the "Star Wars" universe, and a big part of the plan is standalone movies that center on pre-established characters, the first of which will be Yoda.
That's right. That CGI abomination from the prequels could be getting his own movie, but you should label this strictly as "rumor" for now. Knowles has not been known for his accuracy when it comes to this kind of scoop, especially in the last few years. But the man is well-known for a reason, so keep it in the back of your mind.
But why Yoda when there are so many other characters in the "Star Wars" universe worth exploring further? There are even some we could list right now, possibly after the jump.
Boba Fett
Let's get the "duh" out of the way first. While the prequels should be a lesson in "answering questions where we don't need answers," there is good potential for a "Man With No Name"-type space spaghetti western, and director and Fett designer Joe Johnston knows that.
Darth Maul
Also, duh. Watch the video below (which comes from the last "Clone Wars" episode, so SPOILERS) for all the explanation you need.
General Grievous
Come on, Lucasfilm, this isn't hard. The only prequel character worth exploring further, the alien-cyborg hybrid is built of mystery. He's an alien-cyborg hybrid for crying out loud. And what about that cough? How'd he get that? That's more interesting than a Yoda movie, right?
