This year's most highly anticipated science-fiction action film just got a ringing endorsement from the director of last year's best science-fiction film action film, and that's a very good thing.
"Looper" director Rian Johnson was lucky enough (the jerk!) to check out an early screening of "Pacific Rim," Guillermo del Toro's monsters-versus-robots awesome-fest scheduled for release this summer. In one tweet sent out on Saturday, Johnson succinctly caused us even more excitement than we already had.
Read what he had to say after the jump!
"Go into Pacific Rim prepared to be transmogrified into a 12 year old," Johnson wrote. "And then to pee your pants with joy. I love it so much."
Since we're pretty sure Johnson means this in a good, we've set our hype meters to 1.21 gigawatts and started counting the days until July 12. While we're sure Johnson wants to help out fellow geek-in-arms del Toro and screenwriter Travis Beacham, we're going to take the less cynical route and bank on this being a legitimate endorsement. Johnson has never steered us wrong before.
To help us deal with the wait, USA Today released a fresh batch of images from the film, including our first look at Charlie Day. Check out the rest by clicking here. You'll get a closer look at one of the Jaegers, plus some sweet kaiju details, like the fact that one of them spits corrosive lava. You don't say!
