Audiences across America made Jordin Sparks an "American Idol" winner after they fell in love with her voice, and one lucky boy got to get a special "Happy Birthday" from the "Sparkle" star through the Starkey Hearing Foundation.
The Starkey Hearing Foundation first Tweeted about this, and then Jordin retweeted the message and vid:
A #NOLA memory we wont forget! @jordinsparks sings Happy BDay to Garrett after he gets the gift of hearing! Video: twitpic.com/c16lzs

The information available doesn't give deets on Garrett's hearing condition, but the video def lets you know that this was a major deal for everyone involved. And if the name "Starkey Hearing Foundation" isn't familiar, here's the deal: the org is dedicated to helping people in America and abroad get "the gift of hearing." For instance, they supply hearing aids to kids who wouldn't be able to afford them otherwise. They also teach you how to take good care of your ears (like, don't play JSparks too loud on your iPod, no matter how awesome she sounds).
Jordin's not the only celeb supporter of this gift-giving org -- Miley Cyrus has also traveled with the Starkey Hearing Foundation to Haiti to help kids get hearing aids. You might think, People just need hearing aids when they get older. But that's not always accurate. Case in point: 6.5 million teens are having trouble with their hearing these days.
The good news is that Garrett gets a happy ending to his story, and so do countless other kids helped by the Starkey Hearing Foundation. Being able to listen to music is definitely a gift and one we take for granted so thanks Jordin for making us aware of this awesome cause.
