Today we celebrate the major progress of Malala Yousafzai -- mtvU's 2012 Woman of the Year spoke publicly for the first time since her attack in Pakistan back in October!!!!! Yes, that deserves a lot of !!!!! and even more action. Here's how you can celebrate by taking action with Malala.

Malala, who is a Pakistani girls' education activist, was shot in the head by Taliban militants for her audacious work challenging the status quo toward women's rights. Miraculously, Malala survived and with the support of many from around the world is picking up where she left off. From her inspiring recovery to the movement she has fueled among the world, we are just SO proud of her and thrilled to hear she has just launched her own fund for girl's education.

Malala proudly spoke to the world today, and announced she will be continuing her fight for women's education by launching The Malala Fund. Malala revealed, "I want every girl, every child to be educated. And for that reason, we have organized the Malala Fund."

We have followed her recovery quite closely and were thrilled when we heard the news that she was being released out of the hospital last month. It's crazy to think in 2013 young women are targeted for advocating for women's education, but sadly, this is the reality for many around the world. As we spark up the conversation more and more, we have the power to educate and change this ongoing problem.
