We know it ain't easy out there, college grads. The recent sucky youth unemployment stats speak for themselves. You know what you need? A cyber-friendly self-esteem boost in the form of a super cool infographic that explains why your generation should be at the top of the hiring pool!
BOOM. You've got one, courtesy of the University of North Carolina's Kenan-Flagler Business School (Go Tar Heels!) and the Young Entrepreneur Council (YEC), the masterminds behind Fix Young America (#FYA), a solutions-based movement to get unemployed young Americans out of their parents' houses and into legit jobs.
Y'all should remember #FYA from all the ruckus they raised back in April when thousands of students rallied for truthiness czar Stephen Colbert to raise his comedic voice to their cause. Or perhaps you even passed a baby to demand more solutions to this bummer jam job mess. (Don't worry, you still can!)
Basically, the experts at UNC and YEC are sending a clear message to employers: get you some Millennials. According to this handy-dandy guide, gen y (that's us!) is diverse, well-educated, tech-savvy community builders that care less about money and more about progressive, interesting work. Hellloooo, sounds like someone I'd want as a cubicle buddy!
Post, tweet, pin, instagram and tumble this bad boy to remind your crew (and the peeps that are hiring!) that y'all are an economic force to be reckoned with aka the future of Americuh (F yeah!). If you're lucky enough to be rockin' a job right now, maybe casually leave this in the printer for your boss to discover or leave it out by the coffeemaker. And for all you ballsy job seekers, hand it over with your resume at the next interview -- why not? It pays to be bold in times like these! Remember your strengths and always be ready to make a case for your generation's multi-tasking talents. (But don't demonstrate that by playing Angry Birds during the interview, mkkaay?)
