Don your favorite fedora because the international trailer for "Gangster Squad" is here. Helmed by director Ruben Fleischer and starring Josh Brolin, Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and Nick Nolte, the 1940s-set film pits Penn's gangster Mickey Cohen against the Los Angeles police squad out to bring him down.
It's been about two months since the first trailer appeared, so with anticipation we checked out the new, albeit shorter international version. Unfortunately, there's not too much new stuff to be found, with much of the included footage having appeared in the original trailer.
What we do get though, are a couple soundbites from Penn's Cohen. He gets to utter a previously unheard "Let 'er rip" command, and also offers up a new bit of gangster wisdom.
"You heard of manifest destiny?" Cohen asks in a gravelly voice. "That's when you take what you can when you can."
Well, based on the trailer's action, it is clear that these characters definitely aren't shying away from taking what they want, guns ablazing.
Here's hoping we get to see more new material soon. "Gangster Squad" will open on September 7.
