Tattoos are all the rage! According to the U.S. Food And Drug Administration, more than 45 million Americans have at least 1 of 'em. While some of us are into butterflies and misinterpreted foreign characters, others opt to make political statements with their body art. In the spirit of Miley's recent Presidential tat, we've compiled a list of other celebs and their political ink.

Miley Cyrus is quite the patron of political tats, rocking a marriage equality sign on her right ring finger, and most recently getting a Theodore Roosevelt quote on her left forearm. The quote, which President Roosevelt delivered during a 1910 speech in Paris reads, "So that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat." Ah, to be young, and famous, and permanently inked without the common actor's worry that his dream tattoo will someday prevent him from getting that last-resort job as an accountant if things in Hollywood don't work out.

Rapper Wiz Khalifa has a Martin Luther King Jr. quote all up on his stomach! I don't even wanna know how much that hurt considering I fainted when I got my bellybutton pierced. (No judging. It was part of my, "I'm 18! I do what I want!" phase.) The quote reads, "The ultimate measure of a Man is not where He stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where He stands at times of challenge and controversy." MLK Jr. had a dream that one day, people of all colors would be treated equally, including "Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow, Black and Yellow!"

Red Hot Chili Peppers lead singer and eternal hunk Anthony Kiedis has a portrait of Native American Chief Joseph on his left arm. Chief Joseph was a humanitarian and peacemaker, known for his resistance towards having his tribe moved from its home in Oregon onto a reservation in Idaho. I just hope the rocker didn't get any "Scar Tissue" from that tat.
+Adam Levine's Bald Eagle

We're not sure if Maroon 5 front man and "The Voice" judge Adam Levine meant to be patriotic when he had an eagle tattooed on his extremely fit torso, but gawd, does he make us proud to be American! We recently asked Adam what he'd do if he were president for a day, to which he replied, "First I'd make gay marriage legal because that's just archaic and ridiculous." He also said if he were prez he would fly the Air Force One to....the Fuddruckers in Miami. We're surprised he didn't say he'd fly American Eagle. Har, har, har!

Angelina Jolie has mastered the art of being a bad girl and good girl simultaneously. The tatted philanthropist has "Know Your Rights" written on her upper back because she is extremely passionate about human rights. "Human rights are the law," she said during an interview on ABC's "Nightline." "Everyone has the right to an education, a free education," she explained.

Hologram Tupac was recently spotted getting a tattoo of my face on his shoulder. He and I got preeetty close at Coachella. But before my face, Pac had a tattoo of a black panther in the same place -- in homage to his family's association with the Black Panther Party and black power movement.
+Chris Martin's Sharpie "Tattoos"

Temporary tattoos count too! (And are a great alternative to the more permanent kind.) Coldplay's Chris Martin has been known to drawn an equal sign and the letters "MTF" on his left hand, in support of Oxfam's "Make Trade Fair" campaign, which promotes fair trade and labor rights for women around the world. In eighth grade, I sometimes Sharpied my crush's initials onto my left hand. He didn't grow up to be so hot, so I'm glad those letters washed off with hot water.
+Megan Fox's Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe sang what may be the sexiest rendition of "Happy Birthday" ever for President John F. Kennedy back in '62. OK, I know it's not exactly political but Megan Fox had Marilyn's face tattooed on her right forearm when she turned 18. Like many people who get tatted in celebration of legality or on a cray night in Vegas, she recently decided to have it removed. "I'm just over it. I was 18 and now I'm 25, and it just doesn't make sense anymore," the now 26-year-old told reporters last year. If you're thinking of getting a tattoo, make sure it's of something you will appreciate for the rest of your life. You will someday grow out of your mermaid and stars obsession, I promise.
