In "True Life: I'm Addicted to Marijuana," we meet Amybeth, Amere and Troy and their stories are pretty eye-opening.
Amybeth was sexually assualted when she was twelve and began to have panic attacks. These days she rarely leaves the house because of her anxiety. She found that smoking marijuana calmed her down and helped her with her anxiety, but when she started spending all her time smoking, she wanted to make a change.
Amere's dad dealt drugs and was in and out of jail during Amere's childhood. Like Amybeth, Amere began smoking as an early teenager, but then it got to the point where he had to smoke eight to nine blunts a day, every day. He began dealing to be able to pay for his pot, and had a major close call when police pulled him over and searched him just after he'd finished selling everything he had.
Troy is someone else who smoked so much it started to interfere with his life. He also decided to sell, but unlike Amere, he got caught and his sentence is pending. He could face jail time. His best friend was sentenced to a year for cultivating marijuana. At one point we see Troy talking to his dad over the phone; they can't hang out the way they'd like to because his dad is in prison for murder and Troy blamed his father's drug abuse
All three of them are in extreme situations where they've become so fixated on a substance they don't believe they can get by without it.
