Our B-Day girl Bey has been leaving us hanging when it comes to dropping her new album, but she's never held back when it comes to reppin' that girl power life!
Beyonce is a living legend of talent and class. I mean, let's be real, all of her performances are insane, and when you package that together with her big heart, you've got a killer combo. But what really makes Beyonce sing is her particular brand of Girl Power. You know, that, "to the left, to the left", "who runs the world, GIRLS" bravado that really steals the show.
+ Grown Women Can Do Whatever They Want
Beyonce's new single "Grown Woman" brings a new sound but a tried and true message to our ears: women can do whatever they want! From being bad, to being good, and everything in between.
"I have always felt strongly about equal opportunity for women," Bey said about her involvement with the organization, Chime For Change. "Girls have to be taught from early on that they are strong and capable of being anything they want to be." Damn right!
Beyonce's video for the activism anthem, "I Was Here" was nominated for Best Video With A Message at this year's VMAs. The video focused on making your mark in the world by helping others, and Bey is a great role model for women who want to make a difference, because you know what? Grown women also give back!
+ Confidence Is Key
Every girl has her bad days, but all it takes is tapping into her inner Beyonce to turn it all around. Beyonce's message of female-empowerment extends beyond the political, and really manifests itself in the personal. Songs like, "Ego" and "Diva" are all about putting on your emotional "freakum dress" when you're feeling down. Being your own best friend is key in to believing in one's self, and Bey knows she's the boss queen of music right now, and isn't afraid to flaunt it to inspire other women to feel powerful.
+ Equality Is The Best Upgrade
No doubt Jay is one hell of a husband, but Bey didn't become Mrs. Carter by catering 2 his every need. She made him the Clyde to her Bonnie by working on developing an equal relationship with him, and learning to love each other, "Flaws and All". Not only that, but before she could see his Halo, she had to invest in her own. As she told GQ Magazine in February 2013, "Let's face it, money gives men the power to run the show. It gives men the power to define value. They define what's sexy. And men define what's feminine. It's ridiculous." Beyonce is all about putting money in her bank account so no one has to help her out (or can tell her how to be), and we totally applaud her for that!
