After several rumors, set photos, this teasing interview with Mark Wahlberg, and a recent interview with producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, it seems that the Dinobots are actually, really, totally going to appear in "Transformers: Age of Extinction."

It makes sense, right? This is a series that is looking to kickstart a new trilogy with a new leading man. Wouldn't it be a good idea to bring in a few fan favorites? The Dinobots have been beloved members of the "Transformers" universe since the mid-1980s, and but are bringing in more characters that the hardcore fans are particularly attached to a good idea for series that hasn't been that concerned with that population from the beginning?

Fans of the original toy line and series have never stayed quiet about their feelings for the Michael Bay movies, which have always been more geared toward a wider audience than the cult surrounding the Hasbro toys and animated series. The Dinobots could be yet another sacred cow that gets pushed through the blockbuster machine into something those fans do not recognize.

At the same time, this is a chance to see characters like Grimlock, the tyrannosaur leader of the crew, on the big screen (live action, specifically) for the first time, a novel experience that had even the haters happy to see Optimus Prime standing there in front of them in CGI glory.
