These guys have a lot to celebrate, as the video for "Same Love" won the award for Best Video With A Social Message, and earlier in the evening they took home Best Hip Hop Video.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are in good company as past winners of Best Video With A Social Message include Lady Gaga for "Born This Way" and Demi Lovato for "Skyscraper."
"We consider 'Same Love' to be one of the most important songs we've ever released," said Macklemore. "And it's music video has been a vital piece of connecting the listener with the song and its message. First and foremost, we love that 'Same Love', and its video, has served as a means of creating dialogue about human rights, equality, and gay marriage, issues that we think are extremely important."
While Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are already big winners tonight, and we've recently won some big victories in the fight to ensure anyone in America can marry who they love, we still have a long way to go. Same sex marriage is only legal in 13 states and LGBT youth encounter discrimination in many other ways, too.
One organization helping to lead the #SameLove movement and advance marriage equality nationwide is Freedom to Marry. If you agree there's "no freedom till we're equal, damn right I support it!", head to freedomtomarry.org and join the fight. If you want to learn more about the issue or find other ways to support LGBT rights, head over to MTV Act's LGBT Action Brief.
