On tonight's episode of "The Challenge: Rivals II", tensions heat up as Anastasia hears some pretty nasty rumors about her current hookup, the notorious CT. Unfortunately, instead of calmly talking to him about it, Anastasia lets the situation escalate into a physical confrontation.
Some guys get a reputation that seems to follow them wherever they go. For CT, that reputation has to do with the women he's been with, and how he treats them before and after hooking up. When word gets back to his current flame, Anastasia, she reacts to the gossip with jealousy and aggression. While she may have felt disrespected, her behavior is certainly not the way to go. Dating violence affects both genders, and just because Anastasia is a woman, she does not get a pass on this one.
Doctor Victor Schwartz , The Jed Foundation's medical director with over two decades of experience as a psychiatrist working in college mental health, has a few tips for you if you're experiencing anger — whether it's about jealousy, betrayal, frustration, or anxiety — and don't know how to react.
"Try to look at every difficult situation as a challenge rather than as a defeat or put-down," says Dr. Schwartz. "And understand that there are going to be a certain number of things in life that just suck. Figure out how to let go and move on and walk away from what you don't need to fight about." In Anastasia's case, this could certainly come in handy when dealing with a disappointing boo! Learning how to keep calm and stay cool helps you to avoid drama and focus on the person who matters most: you.
Dr. Schwartz also recommends speaking with a professional if your anger is getting out of control.
"Sometimes you just need to let go and walk away," says Schwartz. "If it's something you find you can't work out or let go of, or if you keep getting into the same angry patterns, talk to somebody. Therapy doesn't need to be a fancy thing or a big deal. It's just an opportunity to stop and think more clearly."
