Fireworks! BBQs! Skinny Dipping! Although summer is a time to have fun and act carefree, it's still super important to be prepared while going out. We rounded up a few apps that will help make your summer nights a little safer.
+ Drink & Drive Safely With Uber
One in three people will be involved in an alcohol-related crash in their lifetime. Download the Uber app if you and all of your friends plan on getting cray this weekend. Not only will you make it to and from the party safely, and be able to have as much fun there as you want, but you'll also ride in style in a fancy-schmancy town car.
+ Walk & Run Safely with LifeLine Response
LifeLine Response is the perfect app for anyone who feels uncomfortable walking or running alone during the night hours. In Thumb Mode, press your thumb onto the screen while, say, walking through a dark parking lot. If your thumb is released from the screen for more than 20 seconds, your vital information and GPS location will be immediately transmitted to the local police. If you're a fan of evening jogs, put the app in Timer Mode to set the duration of your exercise. If you don't disarm your phone before the timer goes off, law enforcement will be notified.
+ Dine Safely With Seafood Watch
Gotta have your sushi?! The Seafood Watch app gives up-to-date recommendations for ocean-friendly seafood and sushi. It sorts seafood by "Best Choices," "Good Alternatives," and things you should "Avoid." Eat fish that hasn't been farmed or captured in ways that hurt the environment, and totally impress your date with your mad sashimi skillz.
+ Hook Up Safely With MedXCom
1 in 2 sexually active young people will get an STD by the age of 25, but not if MedXCom can help it! The safe sex app allows users to bump phones to exchange contact information and updated STD screening results (your doctor has to input them for you). If using this app at a bar sounds totally awkward, think about how much more awkward it would be to catch something unwanted!
Follow the Action Links below to learn more about how to get a couple of the apps listed above. 'Cause you wanna have good crabs for dinner, without getting bad crabs for dessert!
