The 2013 Golden Globes air Sunday, January 13, and while this year's top films are extremely diverse, many of them have one thing in a common: a strong message. From politics to mental health, these are a few fave movies with a message.

+ "Lincoln" Highlights Politics & Freedom

Steven Speilber's "Lincoln" -- not to be confused with the less historically accurate "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Killer" --  is a critically acclaimed glimpse into the life of the 16th President of the United States and his valiant efforts to end slavery. It's a film and a history lesson in one that is sure to kick butt this awards season.

+ "Silver Linings Playbook" Highlights Mental Health

"Silver Linings Playbook," starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper is a total win for the "Hunger Games" actress and "Hangover" actor. It's a dark romantic comedy that centers around a man's bipolar disorder, and how he comes to terms with himself with the help of his friends. + "Zero Dark Thirty" Highlights The Military

"Zero Dark Thirty" chronicles America's decade-long hunt for Osama Bin Laden. The controversial film's lead actress Jessica Chastain was also nominated for a Best Actress Golden Globe. About 13% the adult homeless population are war vets and another 1.4 million vets are on the brink homelessness due to poverty, but organizations like Student Veterans of America are doing their best to provide them with the resources to better their lives.

+ "The Impossible" Highlights Natural Disaster

"The Impossible" is all about a family's experiences during the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. This film is especially relevant today given the events Hurricane Sandy. + "Django Unchained" Highlights...Guns?

"Django Unchained" follows a freed slave (Jamie Foxx) on a bloody mission to rescue his wife from a mean plantation owner (Leonardo DiCaprio). Jamie also happens to be all up in Demand A Plan's new vid that features a few actors who speak up gun control yet star in shoot 'em up movies.
