If your New Year's Resolution is to ditch your boss and start working for yourself, you're not alone. According the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation's 2010 Youth Entrepreneurship Survey, 40 percent of people aged 8 to 24 dream of running their own businesses someday. And just because you're young doesn't mean you can't do it!

Young entrepreneurs are responsible for many of the clothes you wear, products you swear by, and websites you frequent (/check up on your crush on) today! In a recent blog for Forbes, MTV's very own reality star turned fashion designer Lauren Conrad discusses the importance of staying true to yourself and your brand. "Be honest with yourself and stay true to your interests," she writes. "Your fans will follow and will respect you for sticking to your guns."

+ Learn As You Go

Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger launched Instagram just two years after graduating from college. This year, their company was acquired by Facebook for 1 billion dollars! Kevin stresses the importance of learning as you go. "99% of what I do on a daily basis I learned on the job. Classes can prepare you to learn on the job, but doing the work is where you learn what you'll use every day."

+ Just Do It

Balazs Alexa, co-founder of DateMySchool.com, launched his company when he realized that young students often have trouble finding romance, but that dating sites don't always cater to them. The college dating site has grown exponentially since its 2010 launch, and Balazs owes it all to…well…just going for it. "You have to start somewhere," he says, "and the best place to start is at the beginning."
