A new episode of "Teen Mom 2" tonight shows us various difficulties the young moms are going through, including divorce and custody fights. The segment on Jenelle concentrates on her legal woes involving drugs, and if her story hits home, please know that if you or someone you know is abusing a substance, there are ways to get help.
In the episode, Jenelle is looking forward to a concert where she'll get to see her idol: the one and only Ke$ha. Unfortunately, other things going on in the life of Jace's mom aren't so awesome. After failing a drug test, she's told that she can either take jail time or probation. At first the jail time is offered at 45 days, but then it's lowered to 16 days. But it's in those 16 days when she has second row seats to see Ke$ha perform and she's feeling conflicted about missing the show as she's an Animal (a.k.a. Ke$ha stan). So it's either a shortened jail sentence or a chance to see Ke$ha live.
Surprisingly, Jenelle considers her options. She says that if she's on probation, she'll continue to be drug-tested and she's certain that she'll fail those tests. That could lead to more troubles. However, she never gets to make up her mind on her choices, because she fails a random drug test that's given.
She calls her mom from jail, asking for $1,000 to get out, and is soundly refused. In the end of the episode, it's not clear where Jenelle's future is going.
Any substance can be abused, illegal or legal and it affects you so that you can't live your life as normal. Case in point: Prioritizing a concert over a shortened jail sentence. Some forms of substance abuse are more difficult to overcome than others, but there is help out there. For a start, you can check out Half of Us, where you can learn details about addiction, like the fact that research tells us "addiction is a disease that is rooted in brain chemistry." Half Of Us can also help if you or someone you know is abusing a substance. Here's hoping that next week's episode of "Teen Mom" has a happier ending for Jenelle.
