Ever since "The Dark Knight," feature films have embraced the IMAX format more and more, incorporating the larger picture into the actual filmmaking process. One new twist on IMAX comes courtesy of Josh Hutcherson, who stopped by MTV News to give us the scoop on just how the bigger picture will play into "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire."

IMAX played a large part in the box office success of the first installment in "The Hunger Games," and for the second ago around, director Francis Lawrence will film some specific sequences for the format instead of just an up-conversion.

"They're shooting, I think, all the stuff in the arena is going to be IMAX," Hutcherson said. "So when you go see it in IMAX, you'll see the regular movie when we're in the Districts and in the Capitol. When you see us go up in the pod in the games, it will open up into IMAX. It will be amazing. It's very cool."

The switching formats sounds like a pretty cool trick, but it doesn't mean too much if the movie doesn't look spectacular. Hutcherson, however, had some good things to say about the visuals inside the arena.

"They actually built a cornucopia in Atlanta that we shot at, and it looks amazing, and the way that the spokes got out, and the way everyone comes up on the pedestals and the water — it looks incredible," he said. "I've seen some of the CG renderings that [director] Francis [Lawrence] has worked on, and they look really, really great."

"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" opens on November 22, 2013.
