Monsters! Robots! Warfare! It's all coming together—okay, kind of...Now that Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures have finally set the wheel in motion with today's viral campaign launch for Guillermo del Toro's much-anticipated "Pacific Rim," we've got a bit more to go off of before the movie's July 2013 release.

In October, we were given a first look at the film's propaganda poster—and today, the unraveling continues with the launch of the Pan Pacific Defense Corps website, which includes a gridded map, audio of ominous howls and whistles, and a mysterious 14-day countdown clock. To what, you ask? We're speculating that once the clock hits zero on December 12, we'll be treated to the big trailer reveal.

But the goodies don't stop here—we've also been given a "Test of the Kaiju Emergency Alert System" video, along with a leaked classified letter—blacked out text and all—sent from the Great Britain Air Command and only intended for the eyes of Lt. Col. Takada of the Pan Pacific Defense Corps. From what we can tell, the GBAC wants to offer up the help of the "the most exceptional pilots" to combat the menacing Kaiju threat.

The movie, which stars Charlie Hunnam and Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi, will involve an epic clash between monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, which threaten to wreak havoc on the human population. Massive robots (called Jaegers), which are "controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge," are created to fight back.

"Pacific Rim" will hit theaters on July 12—until then, let's keep our eyes open for what happens when that clock hits zero!
