If you plan to walk into "Star Trek Into The Darkness" completely blind, look away. Now.
If, on the other hand, you're dying for a tiny glimpse at the much-anticipated sequel before its trailer release, keep reading.
For the grueling six-month wait until the film's release in May 2013, Paramount Pictures has finally thrown "Star Trek" fans a bone and released an official summary of the movie, which it calls an "explosive action thriller." The description reveals tiny-but-telling tidbits—most notably words like "manhunt" and "weapon of mass destruction"—of what viewers might expect to see:
"When the crew of the enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.
"With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction.
"As our heroes are propelled into an epic chase game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew."
In the meantime, be sure to keep an eye out for the first official trailer set to debut with "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey." And we'd be cruel to not remind you about the nine-minute-long sneak peek that will play before select IMAX presentations of the film on its December 14 release date.
"Star Trek Into Dark" opens on May 17, 2013.
