Rihanna: villian or hero? Well... The Bajan "Where Have You Been?" pop princess was rumored to be steaming up the big screen, driving super sexy cars with Vin Diesel as a villain in the upcoming "Fast and the Furious 6." She will, however, visit movie theaters near you this month in "Battleship" as a bad-ass FBI espionage. But off screen, it appears she's quite the hero.

On May 14, Rihanna is headlining a benefit concert for the New York City-based poverty fighting nonprofit the Robin Hood Foundation. Last year, the organization invested $146 million in more than 200 of the strongest poverty combating initiatives in Manhattan.

Over the years, helping children and women has been a major cause close to Rihanna's heart. In 2008, she worked with DKMS (Deutsche Knochenmarkspenderdatei), which means Bone Marrow Center, to raise awareness about the need for people to become bone marrow donors. When she heard about a New York City mother of two needing a marrow transplant, she lent her support and started spreading the word. Plus, always putting her talent to good use, Rihanna performed at DKMS Linked Against Leukemia gala for free.

In April, RiRi performed at the EIF's (Entertainment Industry Foundation) Women's Cancer Research Benefit. Schmoozing with the likes of Stephen Spielberg and Sheryl Crow, she helped raise money for the early detection and prevention of women's cancer.

And unless you've been cut off from the Internet for the past couple of month, you all know who the infamous Joseph Kony is. After seeing Invisible Children's mega viral video about the Ugandan warlord, responsible for forcing thousands of children to become soldiers, Rihanna reached out to the film's creators and said she wanted to be involved with the next stage of the StopKony initiative.
