Well, we made it. It's almost 2013. It's been a banner year in the realm of causes, music and politics, and with that in mind, here's what I'm most looking forward to in 2013.
+ Music
This year: We watched as Demi Lovato won the 2012 MTV VMA for Video with a Message, and Lady Gaga started her Body Revolution movement.
In 2013: Let's hope we get to see more of Gaga's Born Brave Bus tour and her Youth Empowerment Initiative with the UN and UNICEF. Would it also be too much to hope for an anthem for her Body Revolution movement? There, we said it. This next year should be the year of the anthem. That means you too, Demi, since both ladies have new projects in store for 2013!
+ Causes
This year: Pencils of Promise broke ground on 100 schools, and Invisible Children made Joseph Kony the most infamous man in the world.
In 2013: We hope other non-profits will follow Pencils of Promise and Invisible Children's examples and use social media to drive social change. If 2012 was the year of the viral cause video, we think 2013 should offer something just as monumental: a more meaningful social media presence for all non-profits. Get your Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and YouTube accounts ready, people. It's time to change the world.
+ Politics
This year: President Obama is reelected to his second term.
In 2013: We hope President Obama keeps his eye on the prize: keeping the cost of higher education down, having a much-needed policy-discussion on gun control and youth jobs jobs jobs. We'd also love to see more pictures of Bo doing his thing on the White House grounds (you know, since we're asking for what we want and all).
These are just a few things weíd love to see in the year ahead! If you had your way, what would you want to see in 2013? Share your thoughts in the comments below, or Tweet us!
