Mary Lambert made people cry and sing along when she performed "Same Love" with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis at the 2013 Video Music Awards. As part of the "Same Love" team, she won MTV Act's own Best Video With a Social Message at the VMAs, and now she's also being honored by Out Magazine.
Mary Tweeted her excitement of this honor:
Also, BAM! Thank you @outmagazine for picking me to be in the #Out100 this year! SO HONORED. http://t.co/NdKtyXui5t

Out's Out100 celebrates the "most compelling LGBT people of the year" and Mary's made the list! In a special interview with the mag, the singer posed in New York City and spoke about the importance of "Same Love." "The song wasn't about ego; it was so much bigger than all of us," she said. "It was about a movement."
Yeah, we'd say so. Along with being one of the highlights at the VMAs, the song has been rocking the radio and being used more and more as an LGBTQ rights anthem. (Plus it's just a damn good song.)
But this girl is no one hit wonder, in terms of songs or equality anthems. Her single, "She Keeps Me Warm" is also out now, and Mary appreciates all the people singing along. "Hearing women of all ages sing that, and not having to use a universal pronoun?" she said. "It felt honest and resonated with me."
The Out article also reveals that when Mary was younger, she dreamed of being a singing, dancing waitress. Well, part of that has definitely come true, but it seems more like she's a singing, dancing part of a big, important movement.
