Beyonce recently posted the sweetest picture of hubby Jay Z and daughter Blue Ivy bonding by a swimming pool on her Tumblr, and we can't help but be reminded of an epic scene from "The Lion King" — you know, the one when Simba is presented to the pride. Come to think of it, the comparisons make total sense considering Hov is the king of the Concrete Jungle, aka NYC.
Here' why:
+ He Loves his Kingdom
First and foremost, a king's gotta love his kingdom. Jay-Z was born and raised in NYC, and reps the city all the time. In fact, he 1/2 the duet on the ultimate Big Apple anthem: Alicia Key's "Empire State of Mind."
+ He Loves his People
A good king loves all people in his kingdom no matter what. Hova was one of the first big rappers to come out in support of the LGBTQ community. "What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love," he said. "It's no different than discriminating against blacks. It's discrimination, plain and simple."
This February, Hov hosted a concert for his Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation and the United Way of NYC. The show raised money to help low-income high-school students afford college, 'cause the hardworking rapper from the hood is living proof that commoners can become kings.
+ He's Rich As Hell
Most kings have gold, but Jay Z has platinum — platinum records, that is. All 15 of his studio albums are certified platinum, which is part of the reason why Jay and Queen Bey recently became music's first billionaire couple. Jay is putting that money to good use, and recently produced the "Made In America" concert and documentary, which focuses on the current (not so great) state of the American dream.
+ He Has 'Royal' Friends
Last fall, Jay hosted an exclusive fundraiser at his 40/40 club in NYC to raise money for Obama's reelection campaign. The event brought in a total of $4 million, 'cause kings need to have political pull like that.

+ He's married to BEYONCE.
