Demi Lovato recently opened up to Latina magazine about her role on "Glee" and her character's romantic relationship with Santana, played by Naya Rivera. Although some folks get over-excited whenever they see two girls make out, she wants people to focus less on the "cherry Chapstick" and more on the significance of multiracial lesbian love being on T.V. in the first place.
"Yes, we kissed in the first episode, but I want people to pay less attention to the fact that I'm kissing a girl," the actress, turned singer, turned actress again told the mag. "Focus on the fact that having a young, multicultural lesbian couple on prime time is a huge step in our generation. It's showing people that it's okay to be who you are. Don't be ashamed of it."
Although we've come a long way over the years, same-sex marriage is still illegal in many states, and interracial marriage wasn't legalized in the U.S. until 1967! The more and more we publicize and applaud diverse relationships, the more people will come to accept them. And they should. 'Cause all love is beautiful.
