Lorde may not be cool with most young pop artists, but she's totally down with Kanye West. The 16-Year-Old "Royals" singer recently opened up about relating to him more than her peers.
"When I meet a bunch of girls my age, I find that stressful as I'm just a high school student myself. I feel intimidated by them," she told The Sun. "But meeting people like Kanye West — people who are into what you do and understand about having a vision — I can relate to." It turns out the outspoken musicians have a lot in common:
+ They Both Have Biblical Stage Names
Kanye's sixth studio album, Yeezus, stirred up quite a bit of controversy for its Biblical play on words — combining his rapper name Yeezy with Jesus'. Similarly, Lorde — real name: Ella Maria Lani Yelich-O'Connor — has a high and mighty stage name. "When I was trying to come up with a stage name, I thought 'Lord' was super rad, but really masculine," she told the Huffington Post. "So to make Lord more feminine, I just put an 'e' on the end! Some people think it's religious, but it's not."
+ They're Both Into Royals
Lorde's hit song "Royals" both praises and criticizes aristocracy, much like Kanye's song "Power" does. The Power" video had major "Royals" themes — the entire clip was Yeezy sitting on an extravagant throne surrounded by his big-bootied, slow-moving subjects.
+ They're Both Outspoken For What They Believe In
Kanye's had beef with pretty much everyone in Hollywood, and Lorde's well on her way. She recently called most child stars "f*cking mental," and when asked whether or not she'd work with David Guetta said, "No. He's so gross."
We don't necessarily agree, but we like that Lorde stands up for what she believes in. She's an outspoken feminist, and recently took a stand against Selena Gomez' summer smash "Come & Get It." "I love pop music on a sonic level," she said, "but I'm a feminist and the theme of her song is, 'When you're ready come and get it from me.' I'm sick of women being portrayed this way." Both ladies have it right. There's nothing wrong with a woman getting what she wants, but it's important to be safe and totally okay with it. Like Selena says "If you're ready, come and get it."

Even pop stars have homework! Lorde recently Tweeted about staying in to do hers, while Yeezy just launched a program to educate Chicago youth about music. According to Rollingstone, his Got Bars program will teach students to write and record under the instruction of Grammy-winning rapper Rhymefest.
