2 Chainz must really heart the number two, because he just put on the #2CansFor2Chainz event in Ypsilanti, Michigan, with donations going straight on over to the SOS Food Pantry and Food Gatherers.
The event was hosted by 2 Chainz, his very own TRU Foundation, Adidas and Def Jam Records.
The idea was for people to bring in two cans of food to donate. (One girl brought in 150 cans, and 2 Chainz gave an appreciative, "Damn!") If you're not familiar with the TRU Foundation, that might be because it's a newer one, but keep your eyes and ears peeled as the foundation continues to grow, especially if it's got something happening near you!
2 Chainz spoke about this charitable work with Detroit radio station HOT 107.5, which also took part in the day. "I have a foundation I actually just started, TRU Foundation," he said to HOT 107.5's Big Greg. "And I do different things in different neighborhoods for different reasons. I've got some events coming up on Thanksgiving as well as Christmas. When you get bliss like I have the last year or two, you have to figure out some kind of way to give back."
And he's def giving back: 2 Chainz was able to get more than 4,000 much-needed cans of food through his event! (That gets another appreciative "Damn!") Even though some people went above and beyond, the whole "bring two cans" thing is actually super clever, because it shows that even doing just a little can turn out to be a lot when enough people get involved.
