As one of the stars of "Pretty Little Liars," Lucy Hale's character Aria spends most of her time running around trying to keep her three best friends safe. Now the actress is encouraging girls everywhere to do the same in real life, too.
In this exclusive first look at her new PSA for the m.powerment by mark campaign, Lucy Hale is urging young adults to speak up about dating abuse and partner violence.
As the new face of mark, Hale is also stepping up to serve as an ambassador for the brand's m.powerment campaign. In the new PSA below, the 24-year-old shares the scary statistic that 1 in 4 women will be abused by her partner in her lifetime. As Hale says, that means "between you and your three best friends, one of you, statistically, will be a victim of violence."

That's a pretty terrifying statistic, but thankfully the m.powerment by mark campaign is doing amazing work to break the cycle of dating abuse and partner violence. The actress goes on to describe the initiative's accomplishments, which includes providing grants to agencies across the country, developing prevention programs, and supporting young adults who have been personally affected by violence. Since it was founded in 2008, m.powerment by mark has raised more than $1 million to benefit education and prevention programs.
With her bold brows, her upcoming album release, and the success of her TV show, Hale is the perfect choice to serve as the face of mark. Although the actress loves beauty products as much as the rest of us, there was another reason she wanted to get involved with the brand. Hale tells us, "I really wanted to be part of a company that is as passionate about empowering women as I am. I wouldn't be where I am today without the meaningful women in my life."
