Since its debut at the Sundance Film Festival, "Kill Your Darlings" has been at the top of many people's must-see list for a number of reasons, many of them having to do with Daniel Radcliffe's role in the film. Aside from being praised for his convincing performance as beat icon Allen Ginsberg, Radcliffe grabbed a good number of headlines back in January thanks to an on-screen kiss between his character and Lucien Carr, played here by up-and-comer Dane DeHaan.
While we understand why the idea of Harry Potter snogging with another gent, why we're so excited to see the movie and the newly released preview is to get our first listen at Radcliffe's American accent.
Of course, this isn't actually the first time Radcliffe has performed with an American accent for the cameras. (We have Josh Horowitz and the "American Talk" After Hours segments to thank for that.) But this is chance to hear Radcliffe pass as American for an entire movie.
Check out the first preview for "Kill Your Darlings" after the jump!
"Kill Your Darlings" tells the story of how literary icons Jack Kerouac, Lucien Carr, and William S. Burroughs were arrested for murder. The trailer does little to hint at where the story will turn, and instead seems to focus on the start of Ginsberg's writing and his relationship with Carr.
"Kill Your Darlings" will be making the festival rounds, before a limited October 18th release date, so keep an eye out for it. And let us know what you thought of Radcliffe's accent in the comments below.
