Last night was the summer finale of "Awkward," and while you may not get to see new episodes of Jenna's foibles soon, MTV Act has deets on what actress Ashley Rickards has been up to IRL. Helping others is never awkward, and Ashley has not only adopted a new kitty, but she's encouraging others to do the same.
The MTV star Tweeted:
If you're the LA & looking to adopt a cute cat like mine, check out http://t.co/D5jS6YTcqy or like them on FB! http://t.co/fK7mooR1WW

Kitten Rescue is an Los Angeles org that began in 1997, and each year it helps about 1,000 cats and kittens into loving homes. (Yes, catz can haz homes!) This is the place where Ashley got her new feline friend Trinny, who has three legs. Conditions like that can make animals less likely to be adopted, but Ashley knows better than to judge anyone -- person or cat -- on shallow grounds. She even got Trinny a stroller to help her around! Even if Trinny doesn't need a stroller, that sounds pretty cute.

Warmer weather means more cats will be giving birth, which means more kittens are going to need hugs, cuddles and good homes. Likewise, there are many adult cats who need homes just as much and are up for adoption. Kittens are usually easier to find homes for, which means adopting a grown cat makes you all the more of a cat hero. Ashley's plugging for Kitten Rescue, but if you're not in SoCal, no fret! You can check out your local shelter, or search places like the ASPCA or Petfinder to locate the perfect pet for you.
