Peter Jackson crawled out of his hobbit hole to post this gem to Facebook over the weekend. That's right. You're looking at the first poster from "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug," which will open in theaters on December 13.

Hopefully you're prepared for a lot of Tolkien-themed geeking out this week, because the poster is only the beginning of a few big days for fans of "The Hobbit." Tomorrow, June 11, the first trailer for the second installment in the prequel trilogy will debut at 1 p.m. ET.
