It's important for teens (and, well, everyone) to have a creative outlet, and many young people turn to filmmaking as a way to express their thoughts and creativity. MTV's own Andrew Jenks knows a thing or two about how powerful film can be to both creators and viewers, so he's behind the very first All-American High School Film Festival.

You can submit as many of your films as you like, but they have to fit somewhere in the following categories: Drama/Narrative, Comedy, Documentary (Jenks should know a thing or two about that), Sports Narrative or Documentary, Animation, Music Video, Experimental, Scholastic Book Trailer ('cause remember Scholastic published his book?), Made in NY or PSA. Phew, you've got options! A winner will be chosen from each category, and the winning films will all get played at the Film Festival in October.

So if you've got a perf short movie for this, or your Muse is telling you great stuff you've got to go film, listen up. You have until June 14th to give an early submission -- which would mean no submission price. If you're not ready by Friday, you just need to get your film in by August 2nd with the $25 entry fee. Winners will get the great news in early September! Check out the website for all the deets and get your creative outlets going!
