Everyone has to eat, but not everyone has access to the food they need. In America, about 17 million kids go hungry, and generationOn has launched its initiative What Will You Bring to the Table? to help young people solve this problem.
The initiative got started in March and will go on until April 30, and the goal is to create a million meals for kids in need. In every part of America, there are kids who don't know where their next meal is coming from -- in fact, that's the reality for more than one out of five kids.
There are a ton of different ways you can take action. There are toolkits available for teens, kids, schools and families and What Will You Bring to the Table? also offers a number of ideas. Could you spare some extra food and give it to the food bank? Want to make collecting food more fun by having competitive food drives? You can even build tables to serve as icons for the issue of child hunger. (Don't worry -- they've got table-building instructions, too!)
And once you've done something, you def don't have to keep it a secret. What Will You Bring to the Table? wants you to share what you did by reporting your action to them. They also need to know because their campaign partners are gonna match your efforts. So, basically, if you supply one meal, two will be supplied. Who here is hungry to take some action?
