A whole lot of moviegoers got their souls swallowed this weekend at theaters. "Evil Dead," the remake of Sam Raimi's horror classic, made $26 million this weekend, according to Box Office Mojo. The take was considered a win for TriStar and Sony because of the relatively low cost of producing Fede Alvarez's reimagining, $17 million.
The rest of the top four performed moderately well. The other debut of the week, "Jurassic Park 3-D," made $18 million, bringing the all-time total for the Steven Spielberg classic to $378 million. The 3-D update of the blockbuster fared better than some other recent conversions, like "Star Wars - Episode I: The Phantom Menace" and "Top Gun."
