I don't know about you guys, but I've been practicing my horizontal running in preparation for the 2013 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday. The show is going to be amazing: Brad Pitt will present, the cast of "Pitch Perfect" will perform, and Academy Award-winning Jamie Foxx will have to make room on his shelf for this year's Generation Award.
Foxx will join the ranks of Reese Witherspoon, Sandra Bullock, Johnny Depp, and Adam Sandler who have all taken home the statue. The award is given to a performer who "can be counted on to engage the MTV audience with everything" she or he does. MTV President Stephen Friedman said Foxx was a natural choice because he is "a triple threat superstar unlike any we've seen in a long time," and we can't disagree.
What we love most about Foxx, though, is that he's also a superstar at giving back. Earlier this year, Foxx rallied in New York City at a candlelight vigil for Trayvon Martin. He rocked a hoodie and joined Martin's parents as they honored the teen's memory one year after his death. Foxx even has his own foundation, which provides for "the health, education, and welfare of children throughout the world, including housing, and AIDS/HIV issues in Africa and Haiti."
So even though the "Django Unchained" star is up for four Movie Awards at the ceremony, he'll most def have a big night as he's taking home one of the night's most important statues. Foxx's most inspiring performance -- as a human being who works to make the world a better place -- will be part of the legacy that inspires the next generation, without a doubt.
