Forget romance—the month of love is getting a serious taste of macho action courtesy of a few upcoming re-releases.
First up is the 3-D debut of '80s classic "Top Gun"—the airborne movie that put Tom Cruise on the action-star pedestal and grossed more than $350 million worldwide. And to rekindle your need for speed, Paramount has unveiled a new trailer for the six-day event, set to happen during the week (between February 8 and February 13) leading up to Valentine's Day. Following its run in IMAX theaters, "Top Gun" will hit stores on Blu-ray 3-D/2-D on February 19.
Late director Tony Scott had a hand in converting the film to 3-D before his death in August 2012. "It really is exciting when they land on those carriers, and the dogfights. You really think Tony shot it in 3-D. Tony was thrilled, and he was a perfectionist," producer Jerry Bruckheimer told USA Today.
And if you're still craving a bit more action, following close behind is another trip down memory lane with the upcoming "Die Hard" marathon that will play out on February 13 before the latest installment premieres on February 14. The back-to-back-to-back feature will include: "Die Hard" (1988) "Die Hard 2: Die Harder" (1990), "Die Hard With A Vengeance" (1995) and "Live Free or Die Hard" (2007), followed by the official release of "A Good Day To Die Hard." You can also check out the new official preview for the five-movie event.
