Yesterday was Martin Luther King Day, the Presidential Inauguration...and maybe the coolest day in Kelly Clarkson's life. Kelly, along with Katy Perry, Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, fun., and the cast of "Glee," was a musical performer for the Inauguration. And KC actually sang IRL!
The first "American Idol" winner Tweeted:
Maybe the coolest photo I've ever been in ....ever :) twitter.com/kelly_clarkson…

Kelly got waaay good timing to sing, too, coming up to croon "My Country Tis of Thee" right after President Obama finished his Inaugural Address. She had also been listening closely to the Address and it got her thumbs up approval. She said:
What an honor to be a part of history! Obama's presence was powerful and his words unforgettable. It's a proud day for America!

Not everyone will get to sing for a newly elected prez, but all of us can get involved in the political cycle. MTV's Power of 12 was big on getting you to flex your voting muscles, and while there won't be another election again for a while, that doesn't mean you can't still get involved in the political process. You can educate yourself on politics, keep track of what's going on, and write to your elected officials to let them know how you feel about different issues. If a vote about something you care about is coming up, that can be an especially good time to let your elected officials know what you support or don't support.
But we can all say this: we def support any chance we get to see Kelly Clarkson sing. And we support all of you getting educated and involved in the political process, because that's how you can make the changes you want to see!
