Todd Phillips' new behind-the-scenes photos from the set of "The Hangover 3" show that this movie is going to be a fitting departure for our favorite wolf pack.
The director created an Instagram account to upload shots of the new movie while he and stars Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms are shooting it. But, while looking through the images and admiring Galifianakis' excellent use of double denim, we couldn't help noticing a few other familiar faces as well.
Justin Bartha, Ken Jeong and John Goodman all can be spotted on set filming "The Hangover 3." While Goodman's role had previously been rumored, this is the first we've seen of his antagonist character. Following his excellent stint in "Argo," we can't wait to see what Goodman can do in "The Hangover 3."
We've known for a while that "The Hangover 3" is going to be a departure from the previous movies in the comedy series, and these images seem to cement that. There's not a single beer bottle or broken tooth in sight, and we sort of like it better that way.
"We adhered to the formula in the second one, for those of you who've seen it, and the third one, which would close the whole sort of trilogy, which now it would be a trilogy -- even though we thought we would never make a second one, let alone anybody see the first one -- I think it will take place in Los Angeles and maybe not adhere to the structure," star Bradley Cooper said last December. "It might be different."
Well, judging by what we know from the movie, it will be. In the third and final "The Hangover" movie, there's no wedding, no bachelor party and no other reported reason for revelry. In fact, according to the recently-revealed plot synopsis, it sounds like the wolf pack is headed on a road trip (hence the double denim).
"The Hangover 3" also marks the return of Mike Epps. The flick will follow the wolf pack as they travel through Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Tijuana. It's due in theaters on May 24, 2013.
