Spring is in the air -- which means we're all twitterpated Bambi-style. In other words, people are horny. So National STD Awareness Month couldn't come at a more opportune time! Especially for you hormone-crazed youngsters. Did ya know that 15 to 24-year-olds represent nearly half of all the new STDs occurring in the U.S.? Yeah, that means 1 in 2 sexually active peeps will get an STD by the time they hit 25.
That's why safe sex is so sexy! In honor of saying "suck it" to the stigma around STD #realtalk, here are 5 smokin' hot celebs who understand that the key to gettin' it on is gettin' real and gettin' tested. These stars know their ABCs of STDs, so they're all about GYT -- so check out their wrap-it-up work.
+Lady Gaga <3s Latex
Mother Monster really wears her causes on her sleeve. So when the progressive pop queen wanted to send a message about safe sex, she did it Gaga-style: she rocked a crazy ass outfit. For her appearance last year on "Good Morning America", the "Born This Way" singer showed up in a full latex condom-inspired pantsuit to spread the word on the spread of STDs. "It is shame and stigma around the difficulty of talking to children about sex and AIDS that makes people not protect themselves," said the pop princess. And as a M.A.C. Viva Glam Ambassador, she's also developed her own lipstick shade to raise funds for HIV/AIDS research and prevention. Gaga clearly doesn't want you to have a bad romance, so GYT!
+Ke$ha Gets $leazy & $afe
The party-hard pop tart is all about shock tactics (even brushing her teeth is controversial), so it's not a big surprise that her safe sex campaign was all about a big bang. For her 2011 Get $leazy tour, Ke$ha partnered with Lifestyles to create 10,000 special edition "Cannibal" condoms with her fierce face plastered on the wrapper -- and then she shot the branded sex swag out of a cannon at concerts, showering her rabid Animal fan army with prophylactics.
+Kelly Osbourne Is Adamant About STD Testing
Colorful and candid Kelly has been spilling her guts ever since "The Osbournes" premiered on MTV back in 2002 (10 years ago?!?! Wha?!)-- so she had no problem revealing her GYT routine to the masses back in 2008 when she was serving as an Ambassador for World Contraception Day. The outspoken rock daughter told the press that she goes in for a STD screening four times a year, and she always makes sure to get checked for HIV/AIDS annually as well. Continuing her fam's TMI tradition, she also told reporters about the first time she saw a condom when she was just 7-years-old at one of her dad's gigs. After her crowd-pleasing stint on "Dancing with the Stars," the "Fashion Police" host got in serious shape, so these days she's lean AND clean. Rock on, Kelly!
+Lil Wayne Knows How to Love
I mean, who gets the importance of safe sex more than a hip-hop pop with four kids from four different baby mamas?! Weezy spit these condom-lovin' lyrics in his mega-hit "Lollipop": "Safe sex is great sex, so better wear a latex/'cause you don't want that late text/that "I think I'm late" text/Heh-heh, so wrap it up." The (w)rapper even appeared in some cheeky ads for Strapped Condoms that show the trouble-makin' MC getting searched by a cop -- and guess what's in his pockets? But Tunechi can get serious, too – his "How to Love" video powerfully depicts family drama, including a tragic AIDS diagnosis. Props to Lil Wayne for using his big daddy status to promote safe sex and getting tested for STD's!
+Kelly Rowland Lays It On Us
Last year, K-Row teamed up with the Elton John AIDS Foundation to promote a swanky safe sex initiative at the W London: the Intimacy Pack. Yup, it's randy room service, y'all! Couples can order up one of these sexytime kits -- which include a selection of sensual aids like condoms (obvi) and a vibrating ring (not-so-obvi). The former Destiny's diva said, "None of us can afford to be complacent when it comes to the risk of HIV, which is why I love the idea of the Intimacy Pack -- it's all about practicing safe sex in a fun and adventurous way."
