Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, many people are going pink and getting involved with the issue. But breast cancer is very real and emotional for Kat Dennings, because her best friend has experienced it firsthand.
First Kat shared a vid of her and her BFF Rodene "Ro" Jones:
This is the closest thing to my heart. Me and my best friend, Ro, talking about her experience with breast cancer: http://t.co/FVRdH6JJLs

Then she continued with this supportive message:
It's Breast Cancer Awareness month, y'all. So much love to the fighters and survivors, and those who love them xo #breastcancerawareness

In the interview, Ro, a photographer, talked about how a lump was discovered on her on a Sunday, she went to the doctor on Monday, she was diagnosed with cancer on Tuesday, and she went into surgery the following Friday. The interview also calls out the inaccurate stereotype that only older women get breast cancer — Ro was only 32 when she was diagnosed.
"Until someone you love goes through this, or you go through this, you don't know what it's like," Kat said. She went on to talk about how in awe she was of her friend and said that people who take cancer on literally are warriors.
"Stay on top of your check ups; don't think because you're young you're immune to anything," Kat said when she was asked for advice.
Ro also had an interesting bit of advice: she suggests people walk through a cancer treatment center because it will be eye-opening. She also echoed Kat's words on seeing a doctor and checking yourself. The vid ended with the BFFs giving each other hugs, and they doubtlessly got many people teary-eyed during the ten minute interview!
