"Roar" for the "Royals," because Katy Perry and Lorde are the loud queens of the Billboard Hot 100. Lorde, appropriately, has taken the royal throne, while Katy roars at her feet waiting for her chance to steal it back.
+ Katy Perry "Roars" For The Young Survival Coalition
Katy and her friends (wouldn't you love to call the following people friends?) Sara Bareilles, Ellie Goulding, Tegan & Sara and Kacey Musgraves are taking over the Hollywood Bowl on October 23rd for a charity concert benefiting the Young Survival Coalition. YSC is all about celebrating young women who have survived breast cancer, and teaching others awareness of the disease. If we've learned anything for "Rivals 2" cast member Diem Brown, it's that cancer doesn't just affect older women. The disease knows no age, and it's important for people of all ages and genders to stay aware.
Tickets for Katy's "We Can Survive" concert are on sale on Ticketmaster, and 100 percent of proceeds go towards YSC's sweet cause. BTW, it's breast cancer awareness month. Perf timing, Katy!
+ Lorde Is A Self-Prolaimed Feminist
Lorde may barely be old enough to drive, but she's old enough to stand her ground when it comes to feminism and the messages she does and doesn't like in music. She recently took a controversial stand against Selena Gomez's summer smash "Come & Get It," saying, "I'm a feminist and the theme of her song [Come & Get It] is, 'When you're ready come and get it from me.' I'm sick of women being portrayed this way." Agree or disagree, it's pretty cool to hear someone of Lorde's age have such a strong opinion on feminism in music.
