Back in the pre-J.J. Abrams days of "Star Wars: Episode VII" rumors, there was a small item floating around that when Matthew Vaughn was up for the job, according to /Film, he pitched a female-centric story with "Kick-Ass 2" star Chloë Grace Moretz in the lead.
That talk went away after Lucasfilm gave another go at getting Abrams to direct, but when MTV News' Josh Horowitz sat down with Moretz, he had to ask if there was still any truth to those rumors. While she carefully dodged the tougher questions by admitting that she's "interested," there still does seem to be some potential.
"I mean, obviously there's interest. It's 'Star Wars.' I'd kill to be a part of that franchise, but I don't know," she said. "J.J., I'll give you my phone number. You can text me."
If there's a shred of truth to that "leaked casting list," it's not hard to find a place for Moretz. One role did call for a girl in her "late teens, tough, smart and physically fit," which actually sounds pretty close to Hit Girl.
We're still anxiously waiting for any casting news to come out of the "Star Wars: Episode VII" camp, but from the way Kathleen Kennedy is talking, J.J. and company want to take their time with the script. With a planned early 2014 start date looming, that script and the cast will need to come together quickly if they want to meet the deadline for the already-packed summer 2015.
