Today marks the forty-fifth anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King's assassination. To honor his legacy, Kelly Rowland is joining The King Center in launching "The 50 Days of Nonviolence" campaign.

Since Kelly's been an activist against violence before (check out her MTV Act interview about fighting domestic violence and dating abuse with Saving Our Daughters), you can see why she'd be interested in this campaign. She'll be joining 2 Chainz, Common, Big Boi and others in spreading the word and getting young people involved.

"We mark the 45th anniversary of the assassination of my father, Martin Luther King, Jr. with a challenge to young people to study, embrace and practice nonviolence," said Bernice A. King, CEO of The King Center.

Today there's going to be a wreath-laying ceremony for Dr. King at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he worked as a pastor, followed by the campaign kick-off at The King Center. And there's plenty of ways for you to get involved at home, too!
