As Captain America, Chris Evans is one of "The Avengers" characters nominated for a 2013 MTV Movie Award for Best Fight. Chris might not actually be walking around in Cap's costume on the average day, but he is involved with the fight for equality.

This picture has been making its rounds on the Internet, so odds are you've already seen it. Chris no doubt decided to share it now because of the two court cases related to same-sex marriage that are being looked at by the Supreme Court. While we may not know how SCOTUS will rule until the end of June, many people are sharing their opinions on the matter.
So what's the connection between these two pictures? These days no one thinks anything about interracial marriage, but if you go back, many people used to be against it. In fact, it wasn't until 1967, with the case Loving vs. Virginia, that the Supreme Court got rid of laws saying that people of different races couldn't get married. Each year it gets commemorated on Loving Day, which is on June 12.
So will the Supreme Court soon say that, just as people of different races who love each other can get married, people of the same sex can? And I know he's a fictional character, but getting a yay equality endorsement from Captain America must mean something, right?
